I can not believe that I am going to Chicago next week. And that it's the third year of BlogHer, and it's HUGE! In CHICAGO!!!
I am totally excited about Chicago, because I've never been there. Or anywhere else in the midwest for that matter.
OK, first off, right off the bat, if you're sitting on the fence about BlogHer, know that time and space are running out. Conference registration closes this Monday July 23 at 9pm Pacific.
I'm definitely hoping to see Amy Sedaris for her Art of Crafts session. (Hey, I blog about knitting... sometimes.) Definitely going to the sex & relationships off the record session. Planning on attending "The Art of Writing Reviews" - something I feel I CLEARLY need to improve on, and "The State of the Momosphere" because I'm just so damn interested in parent blogging. I'm definitely going to the BlogHers Act session for the big survey results reveal.
I'll be there in the morning on Sunday for Open Space, which sounds even cooler now that Kaliya's described what it's going to be like. Sunday afternoon I'm meeting my boyfriend's mom for late lunch/early dinner, which I am really looking forward to, too! (Although, my boyfriend's a little worried about the "unsupervised meeting" - hehe. So cute.)
Oh, and Hells Yeah, I'm doing The Great BlogHer Photo Scavenger Hunt! I'm looking for other Liz's... and do you think "your blogging look alike" refers to you or your blogs? Anybody else use ccccff? Ha!
I have to admit that last year, I was kinda in a weird space personally speaking. I closed myself off a bit and sat back and observed a lot. I felt really overwhelmed at times. I was afraid I was coming off as unfriendly because I just felt quiet, you know? This year, I'm hoping to be really open and ready to take it all in. Meet tons of new people, learn tons of new things, and just revel in the overload as best I can. If you're there and you spot me, I'd LOVE for you to come up and say hi!
Oh, and this year, I'm bringing stickers:
Do you like them? The scan looks a little blue on my screen; they're actually purple. I've got 1,000 - Well, 999 after the one I stuck on my car - So the answer is YES, you can have one... or two... or three...
My friend Cindi at Epic Level Entertainment designed them for me and gave me a kick-ass Xombie T-shirt to wear. I am seriously awash in kick-ass t-shirts right now between my Threadless and Blogography shirts, too. Hard choices, people. Hard choices. Yes, my BlogHer attire is a T-shirt parade - I may actually do costume changes. Just kidding.
Oh, and hat tip to Minnie. Last year she gave me a long sticker that says, "thank you for not being perky" (the name of her blog - brilliant) which I now have happily stuck on my laptop. It was her sticker that inspired me to do a long sticker with a phrase.
Speaking of my fabulous 2001 Apple dual usb laptop... Baby just got her first air port card! I am ready to do BlogHer in wireless style. I am seriously hoping to do the picture thing and the blogging thing all conference long, so expect updates!
