And I have damn near convinced everyone in my salon that I am totally insane.
And I have become obsessed with Christina Ricci's hair.
But at the salon they say, if the only reason for the short cut is because the dark hair is driving me insane, then I shouldn't cut it short.
But the dark hair is driving me insane, and The Ponytail Plan is no good, judging by the amount of hair in the sink.
People, I BOUGHT A WOMEN'S MAGAZINE. To look at hair.
Glamour says (in an issue where these are almost the only short cuts in the whole magazine):
They say!
Internets! What say you?
There's a pic of me on my about page for reference...

I say go for it! You'll be happier without the dark ends and if you're not 100% thrilled with the short cut, it'll grow out soon enough.

CUT IT SHORT!
I am a strong believer in the notion that
a) if it's driving you crazy, for whatever reason, and
b) all you can/will/want to do with it is toss it in a ponytail
then it's time to cut it off!
That being said, I've had various versions of a razor-cut, a-line bob since 2000. I did the assymetrical, higher-in-the=back-than-in-the-front thing way back in 1995 and have come back to it again and again. I take faceless drawings ( http://leesepea.wordpress.com/2006/03/07/james-thinks-im-absolutely-nuts/ ) to my stylist and she does what I want! Don't let those fools at the salon dictate your 'do - it's your head, not theirs! Do what makes you happy.

Average Jane - True, true. No matter what you do, hair will grow! (Cut to me muttering that while rocking in a corner!)
Leesepea - Enable me! Enable me! :) And OMG, you are a haircut pro. I'm the worse kind of customer; don't really know what I want. They're just trying to look out for crazy me.

I think you would look ADORABLE with a bob. You have a great jawline for it.
But you know me, I'm a big believer in short hair. I can't grow my hair long, so I'd better be! I think short hair can be more stylish than long hair, and very flattering, to boot.
Go for it girl!

My link's broken. I have no idea why it sends you to a post about my birthday. That's really weird. If you type in "James thinks I'm nuts" in the search bar, you'll get to the post I intended.
Here's a link to just the pictures:

Oh, and by the way, you totally have a great face-shape for short hair. Need more reasons? Uhm... it's going to be HOT this summer, and having short hair keeps your neck cooler. Takes less time to style short hair - I can go from the shower to the car in 20 minutes flat, and that includes the five minutes I spend wandering around in my towel, trying to figure out what to wear.
Do it! Cut it off! Go for it!

If you don't like it, it'll always grow back. Although I'd go with the just under the jawline length, the shorter version (on Selma Blair) is a bit extreme.

I found you through Average Jane ... and just in time, considering that you are requesting hair style advice!
DO IT.
And get yourself a lil' ol' flatiron. Snip snap, straight and swingy hair. I think you'll love it.

I think you could totally pull this look off! I'd go for the slightly longer bob, like Christina Ricci's, instead of the shorter one like Selma Blair. I also like how some bobs are angled, so the cut is slightly longer in the front than in the back, rather than being all one length. :)

You could totally pull this off. If you need any help with how to style short hair (with a slight wave in yours) give me a holler. I was 13 the last time my hair reached my shoulders. :)

Short hair is just so much fun! I am growing it out because I'm closing in on forty... and pretty soon... it's going to be short hair territory... unless of course the Cougars take over... but I digress... I'm lovin' the Diablo Cody look, but please oh please take that sweet little alien baby off the post.

Amy - Jawline for it, really? Hm.
Leesepea - Weird, it worked when I clicked on it before!
Melinda - Yeah, not that short!
Cate - I'm feeling it!
Zandria - Well, you're the one who's going to have to hear my whining at BlogHer if I hate it... ;) I do like that cut where it's slightly longer in the front.
Diana - I will let you know how it goes. I'm pretty skilled with a round brush, a hair dryer and a curling iron at this point. (Cut to me freaking out!)
Sugar - Yes, I am so drawn to that pic of Diablo Cody, even more than Christina Ricci. Although, Diablo's color is also key to her look. And hey! I think Suri is cute! :)

High-drama bangs make most ppl look INSANE.

Hi Suebob -
Uh Oh! A vote in the no column!
:)

DO IT!
Don't go shorter than chin-length in front or you may get REALLY freaked out, but it'd look totally cute on you.
Maybe if you get yours cut, I will, too!

I figured it out!
It's because it's reading the close parenthesis as part of the link addy - if you can edit comments, stick a space between the / and the ) and it should work.
Of course, now it sounds like I'm just begging for blog traffic.
:P

As a guy, I'm putting my vote in for the cut!
Posted by: Liminal | July 10, 2008 at 08:28 AM
So did you cut it?
PICS!!!!
Posted by: leesepea | July 12, 2008 at 07:31 PM
go for it- be bold- this cut is classic and chic
Posted by: amy | July 13, 2008 at 07:39 PM
JDub - Ah, well, I decided against it. Maybe we both truly like longer hair.
Leesepea - No worries, I fixed it!
Liminal - Thank you for a guy vote. :)
Leesepea - It remains long, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks in the BlogHer pics.
Amy - I went romantic over bold, I think. This time.
