So a while back I switched to Google Reader which I really, really like. And I don't use a lot of folders because I learned that I would stick things into like 25 different folders and then I would just completely ignore some of them. So now I only use a limited number of folders for certain things. Namely:
- Board Game Geek (Where none of my RSS feeds are working right now, incidentally.)
- BlogHer
- Everyday Goddess (Where I keep all my personal feeds.)
- Feminism
- Personal Finance
- Status Feeds (Status update blogs for Typepad and the like that I only care about when something is down.)
- Truncated (Where I keep all feeds I don't want to lose, but don't look at because they are truncated. The only exception is recipe blogs because the headline actually does tell me all I need to know so they don't live in this folder.)
- TequilaCon (Brand new folder for blogs of peeps going to TequilaCon.)
And then, all my other feeds of all sorts were not in a folder, which worked great except for one thing. Out there in the unfoldered ether there was no way that I could find to get Google to automatically alphabetize them. And it's been driving me crazy! I mean, it really made me miserable and annoyed.
Is that weird?
Anyway, I don't know how I didn't notice this with my other folders - probably because I set them up when I was doing the big move to Google Reader and certain things were already ordered as they came in - so it wasn't until I set up the TequilaCon folder that I noticed that Google alphabetized the feeds. In the folder. So *OMG* if I put all my miscellaneous feeds into a FOLDER, then Google will ALPHABETIZE them.
And Lo, It Was Done.
But wait, there's more. So then I'm reading Black Belt Mama, and I'm moved to leave a comment. To which she replies, and I get a whole Typepad email response that I've never seen before. She's got email response and threaded comments on a Typepad blog. A Typepad blog like I've got. Whaaa? *I* don't have these shiny features! How do I get these shiny features?! A brief back and forth (on her blog AND via email AT THE SAME TIME!), and I'm looking up (and hooking up) Typepad Connect.
Which, yes, Typepad totally emailed me about. I remember skimming an email and just not getting the point. And it's one of those scary things where now that I'm using it I can't go back without losing all my comments. So in for a penny, in for a pound. Still, I am hoping it will make the conversation flow around here, which is pretty cool.
Now the only question is: threads? or list ? Better like this, or better like this? Check out the new comments system and let me know what you think.

Thanks for the Google tip Liz!
I checked out the comments system. I like the threaded comments better. In the "threads" link example posted, I can easily see the comment relationship between "Kimmie" and "Jamison" versus the "list" comments.

I've been adding people going to WordCamp Chicago to my Google reader. For ome reason I didn't even think to add the TequilaCon list to it (duh!).
Do you share your folders or notes?

I'm planning on TequilaCon unless my next 2 weeks in Costa Rica conflict with it (sadly, there is a chance that might be the only time I can squeeze in 2 weeks).

body{font-family: Geneva,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:9pt;background-color: #ffffff;color: black;}TypePadI actually don't share my folders/notes on my reader. It's kind of a neat concept, but at the same time, I don't really want peeps to know what I'm reading and not reading. :)
I am, however, currently reading everyone who's on the TequilaCon list. I will be going if the plane ticket still costs the same when my American Express billing cycle clicks over in a couple weeks, due to my annoying new plan where I only spend money I actually have. lol
