I ended my Awards Office gig with three new movie posters. Ultimately - and this may be a shocker - I decided not to hang my District 9 poster. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie, but the poster says, "You're Not Welcome Here," and that's just not good apartment mojo.
It's just the way of movie posters. Sometimes the poster from your most favorite movies aren't the ones you want to hang on your walls.
Well, unless we're talking L.A. Story, of course!
To accommodate two of my new posters - Julie & Julia and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs - I just did a major poster shuffle in my apartment. On this wall I moved L.A. Story to the sweet spot, and swapped in my Stranger Than Fiction poster. I like the wall so much better now because I've got white on both sides of L.A. Story poster.
My Walk The Line poster moved across the room next to Kill Bill Vol. 2:
I thought it would bother me that they're both looking the same way, but I actually kind of like it. I also love how the guitar and the sword both point towards the center.
Stranger Than Fiction was in my dining area. I think Julie & Julia works great here:
All of the above took the swap out of one poster: Rabbit-Proof Fence. I liked the movie quite a bit, and the poster was signed by the director. But it was never really good living room decoration, I'm afraid. It said, "What If The Government Took Your Daughter" in big letters across the top. Cheery.
Now, the posters I had hanging up at work have tack holes in the corners, because I just tacked them up to a large bulletin board behind my desk. Oh Yes I Did! So this Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs poster fits perfect on this wall with no frame:
Bruce (the shark on the Most Awesome Finding Nemo poster) looks like he can't decide what food option looks most appetizing!
I tucked my little Bend It Like Beckham poster under the bar. Love it here:
And finally, you know I've got Fight Club in the bathroom, right? Yes, because of the soap. And because Fight Club rocks!
Another thing I love is that the only posters I personally purchased are L.A. Story, Walk The Line, and Fight Club. Most of the other posters are from work. (Many, many thanks to all those who got me posters!) Bend It Like Beckham I got at a screening. And Finding Nemo was a gift from my awesome friend Amy after I fell in crazy love with the giant version that was on the side of a building on Sunset Blvd. during my first year in L.A.
Finally, I am completely happy with my movie posters! I am Most Pleased.

Love it! I need more... I have "Rocky Horror"- with Tim Curry in drag, sitting on the red lips, biting themselves... and an acid trippy "Wizard of Oz", that's super 60's- not the classic pic- they all look high in the poppy fields, haha, so it's definitely different. I also have "Eternal Sunshine"- the one that says "I'm fine without you" with Jim Carrey's face and the ripped out notebook pages. I would like to get "Litte Miss Sunshine", "All About Eve", and "Slums of Beverly Hills" -(if you haven't seen that - it's an amazing movie by an incredible female director/writer, Tamara Jenkins. She also did "The Savages"- but I personally think "Slums" is her "Godfather", haha.) All the above have really cool artwork, unique. Love this blog post! :0)

Love it! What a great way to decorate.
I used to have a Rumble in the Bronx poster in my office, but now I don't have enough wall space. :(

Very cool posters!
And I have TOTALLY seen Slums of Beverly Hills - in the theater! I went on a date with this guy, who told me he liked it, and then month later he said it was awful and he lied to me because it was like our first or second date. Tsk. The Savages is pretty amazing, too.

Nice. It's interesting to learn what combinations of films people have, too.

Sadly, wall space does come into play. Movie posters are BIG.

Haha, that's hilarious about the date... definitely a "tsk" ! I just think Tamara Jenkins is such a talented writer! I wish she would do more!
